Some people are (understandably) confused about the locations where their credit cards are accepted, particularly if the cards are from retail stores or feature a quirky design that makes it difficult to determine what kind of credit card they are using. Below, we provide a comprehensive list of credit card types, along with some information about whether they are able to be used all over the world or if they are limited to a specific chain of stores. (Note the fact that Mastercard and Visa can be used almost everywhere, whereas American Express and Discover have some limitations on acceptance, yet they can be widely used.)
